WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO KNOW?
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We realise Africa is probably quite far away from your home town and needs careful planning. With that in mind we’ve collected some helpful information that should make the process easier.

Weather

The Eastern Cape covers almost 14% of South Africa and typically experiences a high level of annual sunshine throughout the year.

Temperatures range from:
Summer 16º to 36º C  = 60F to 97F
Winter  7º to 20º C = 44F to 68F

The cooler winter months are the most preferable for hunting and we recommend booking during this time. The early mornings will certainly call for a beanie, a few layers and a warm jacket as they can sometimes drop below zero. (36F)

Travel

Thankfully there are a variety of airlines that fly to South Africa, giving you lots of flight options. Most often, international flights will land in either Johannesburg and Cape Town International. In order to get to us you will need to book a domestic flight into Port Elizabeth or East London. We typically recommend Port Elizabeth as it is a little closer in driving distance however we can easily pick up from either one. Port Elizabeth is also equidistant from Johannesburg and Cape Town.

It is also quite common for international flights to arrive after the final domestic flights have left for the day. We recommend spending the evening at the City Lodge Hotel at OR Tambo and catching an early flight to Port Elizabeth the following day. Afton meet and greet services can make your firearm import and passport control experience very fast and efficient.

Please make sure your passport is not expired or will be expiring on your trip.

Insurance

We recommend taking out travel and medical insurance for your trip to Africa as it is always safer to know your provider will be able to assist in case of an emergency.

Vaccinations

No vaccinations are required to enter South Africa and all of our hunting locations are malaria-free.

Gratuity

This is only a guideline and tipping is of course at your own discretion.

Professional Hunters: $70 to $250 USD / day depending on how satisfied you were with your guide.

Homestead Staff (Cleaning Staff, Chef, Manager): $15 - $50 USD Per Person/ Per Night.

Trackers/Skinners, Skinning Shed Staff: $200—$450 USD Per 7/10 day Safari

Cameraman: $50—$100 USD Per day

The best method for tipping is USD$ cash however you can also add tips at the end of the Safari and we can add it to your final invoice.
